Sunday 21st December

Angel No. 1
I loved my first proper nativity now I'm in Reception. I was the main angel, which meant I had four (4!) lines to learn and a couple of times I was centre stage! When I was side of stage and doing the singing bits I was very close to daddy, so I couldn't stop acting silly. Mummy and daddy and grandma came to see me, and they were all very proud. Here are the highlights...

Hope that's got you in the Christmas spirit. Happy holidays!

Thursday 30th October: I am 5!

Guess who loves being 5?
What better way to celebrate your 5th birthday than waking up in Nottingham with your sis and cousin, before a trip to Nottinghamshire's best and strangest theme park?! Here are the highlights of my special day....

Waking up (or not as in daddy's case) in Aunty Heather's bed and opening pressies
After a superstar breakfast of pancakes, we set off to Sundown Adventure park. It had a feel to it a bit like Gulliver's Land, only with less rides, but way more weird and wacky places to explore (and loads of buttons to push everywhere!)...

On what can only be described as....a Christmas ride with Cousin Maia

Down the rapids with Maia and Aunty Heather

Getting trapped in a gigantic shark's jaw

The Wild West at Sundown...

Nadia and Maia take aim

'I Can't Believe It's Not....Gulliver's'

One of the wacky areas at the park - this one all about sweets with loads of wafty smells all over the shop!

More liquorice!

Nadia and Aunty H in the mint/choc room (with smells to match)

We enjoyed the chance to bop

On the runaway train ride

What's up with him? Think he needs more sleep!

The Fairytale land - giant books and houses reflecting each story

Down the yellow brick road with some friends from the Wizard of Oz

Hanging out with the Hump-meister

Things got a bit rude at the echoing wishing well

Nadia and Aunty H on a ride

Robin Hood - famous around these parts apparently

3 Little Pigs

Inside the pigs house they had a piano and things

A disco game in the Angry Birds Land

2 angry birds

If pigs could fly

He should get some clothes on

Messing about - well it's my birthday

Mummy dropped her phone (and we lost Nadia for a bit!)

Not guilty! Did you expect us to smile?!

Exhausted, we went back to Maia's and there was just enough time for left over Olaf cake (and more!)

I had a great day, got some great presents (with still lots more to open at home when I got back to Tring). Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes....I think 5 is going to be just fine.

Saturday 25th October

Today is for the girls!
Welcome back! It may be a few days yet until my proper birthday, but today was my official birthday party, and I was sharing it with my fab friend Ava. There was a bit of a Halloween theme, but mostly there were us and twenty-odd mates running around a hall making mayhem....

The hall in Ivinghoe, and the park next door

We love parties!

A Happy Birthday sing song with my sis, Ava and her brother, Charlie

Making some cookies early doors

Starting to get busy on the bouncy castle (daddy was the inflatable police for the afternoon)

Nadia gets stuck into some arts and crafts
My Olaf cake and birthday wishes from everyone

Chaos at feeding time!

Plenty of sugar...plenty of smiles!

Bit of a squeeze
Music games

The time whizzed by of course, and no sooner had we arrived than it was time to pack up (though I think the oldies were relieved!). Whilst the folks cleared up, there was still time to play before going home for a good chill out.

Sis, Ava and Charlie tinkle on the piano

Play it again, Charlie
Time to go......with sweetie party bag
And to think it's not even my birthday yet!

Here's to an ace half term...

Wednesday 9th July

Guess who's going home?!

Yes, it's true. After looking really miserable and feeling sore in the morning (after a slightly better but still interrupted sleep for mummy and I) - despite having had my drip removed - by lunchtime I was feeling totally tip top, and was starting to properly eat so the doctors and nurses decided I was better off back home.

After daddy came up at lunchtime I promptly fell into a deep sleep, which meant by the time he had collected his stuff to take us home, I was totally zonked and didn't enjoy being woken up to go home. I found that very difficult which meant that I was in tears and very sad most of the way home (not helped by a long wait for a delayed train). I was feeling very sore around my tummy once being removed from my hospital bed, and when we eventually got home, it was lovely to see Nadia and Grandma but all I really wanted to do was sleep.

So I won't be going to nursery for the rest of the week - the hospital said that it is too risky that I might get bumped as I would be in a lot of pain (I understand that). I also have to avoid anywhere with sand, dirt or water as it could infect my wounds around my belly (I'm not even allowed a bath for a week!). On top of that I'm not to do any strenuous exercise (no trampolining or cycling - what am I going to do?!?!?) for 2 weeks.

Mind you, the main thing I probably have to be wary of are Nadia's mega-hugs and tickling! Planning to take it mega easy over the next few days, I am shattered. Thanks for all your kind wishes,

Rosa (Beanbag) xx

Tuesday 8th July

A day of ups and downs
It was a very broken night's sleep for me and mummy. I was still quite sad in the morning and a bit sore, but by lunchtime the doctors and nurses were pleased enough with my progress to take me off my drip which is giving me all the essential stuff I need. They also removed my colostomy bag.

OK, I'll give this a go

I even managed a couple of chicken nuggets at lunchtime, but I couldn't stomach much. I have been told to drink plenty (but it's not really been enough). Daddy took me to the toilet for the first time at lunchtime (he is working at the London office so he can see me first thing, at lunch and in the evening) - he carried me there and I walked gingerly back to my bed. Still, it's all progress!

Not at my best

In the evening I ate a sausage roll and soon after was sick. I was sick again not long after (hey it may have been the morphine), so, looking visibly weaker, the nurses decided to put me back on the drip overnight. I was still really sore in my stomach. Sabina came to visit me which was really nice.

Still hoping to get home over the next couple of days, but feels a bit more distant this evening.

I'm off to get some more z's.

Loads of love,

Monday 7th July

The big day has come!
Today was a big day for me today. I finally went to GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital) to have an operation on my kidney to help me wee properly. I was in keyhole surgery for just over 3 hours but mummy and daddy were there when I came to (sort of) in the recovery room. I have been taking a lot of morphine, in fact, I'm allowed to say I need more if I feel pain and someone comes along and presses a button so I get more! My voice was very croaky and I struggled to speak at all when I first woke up - it reminded mummy and daddy a bit of when Nadia got her tracheostomy I think.

I woke up a couple of times once I was on the Island ward - the first time after a bit of weeping I said I wanted a biscuit. I managed to eat that and then another one, but then it felt quite painful around my tummy. The second time I asked mummy for a pain aux raisins (get me), but I found that a struggle. I am very sleepy and need to get my rest, but the consultant and doctors are happy with the surgery so for now I have a colostomy bag attached and a drip into my arm.

With any luck I will be out before Thursday. Mummy is staying the night so I hope she gets some sleep!

Waiting for the op, watching telly

The nurse draws a smiley face on my leg to make sure they operate on the right side!!
